Editing the Confirmation Emails Sent to My Customers

Modified on Fri, 10 Oct at 3:00 PM

Overview

By default, all forms on your website display an on-screen success message when someone submits a form. But some forms may be set up for users to receive a follow-up confirmation email.

What is a Confirmation Email?

A confirmation email is a branded, text-based email that automatically sends after someone submits a form.

It often includes:

  • A thank you message

  • Details about next steps or what to expect

  • Sometimes a summary of the user’s submitted information

Where to Find the Confirmation Email Editor

The location of the editable email content can vary by site.

Typically, you’ll find it in one of two places:

  • Inside the form block itself, under a section called “Additional Settings”

  • Or in a separate block just below the form submission archive

How to Edit Your Confirmation Email

Once you locate the confirmation email editor, you’ll see a Dynamic Text Area where you can customize your message.

Tips for editing:

  • Keep formatting simple and clean

  • Stick to plain text, links, and basic styling (like bold or italics)

  • Avoid complex layouts like tables, columns, videos, or embedded scripts (email clients don’t handle these well)

Using Shortcodes

If your confirmation email supports shortcodes, you’ll see a list of accepted shortcodes inside the editor.

Shortcodes are used to automatically pull in the user’s submitted data.

For example:
Starting your email with: "Hi [firstname]"

Be sure to:

  • Copy shortcodes exactly as shown in the cheat sheet

  • Only use shortcodes from the provided list for that form

Incorrect formatting will prevent the shortcode from working properly.HERE!

When you’re done editing, make sure to Save your changes so the updated email goes out with the next form submission.

Don't Forget to Save!
