Managing Main Navigation Items

Modified on Fri, 10 Oct at 2:11 AM

You may have noticed that your main navigation items are locked and can't be edited directly in the Editor. That’s by design—and it’s meant to protect the layout and performance of your website.

Here's Why

The main navigation (the top menu on your website) lives in a space with limited horizontal room. When a new item is added or existing ones are changed, it can easily impact the design—especially on tablets and mobile devices.

Even small changes can:

  • Break the layout

  • Cause the menu to wrap awkwardly or overlap

  • Throw off the responsive breakpoints we’ve carefully tuned to keep everything looking great on every screen size

To avoid any unintended issues, we lock the main navigation by default. This way, if you ever need to make a change, we can step in to make sure the update looks clean, functions smoothly, and works well across all devices. We never charge for that little extra oversight — we just want to make sure it all looks good!

Can I Unlock It?

Yes. If you have an experienced team member who understands how navigation structures and responsive design work, we can remove the lock and give you access to make those changes yourself.

Just reach out and let us know—we’ll be happy to review the request and turn that feature on if it makes sense for your team.
